Michelle Smith

Michelle is an expert on energy policy, with a regional focus on Russia and Central Asia. She joined the Advisory Practice in 2011, after several years of providing regular analysis on nuclear energy and non-proliferation issues for the Oxford Analytica Daily Brief. Her work on nuclear energy has been published in a range of respected newspapers and journals.
Recent projects have included studies of political and socio-economic risks in Russia, Central Asia and the Caucasus, and various panels and reports on future energy scenarios for leading global energy companies and investors. Michelle also served as a speaker on energy geopolitics at Oxford Analytica’s 2011 conference, Global Horizons.
Prior to joining Oxford Analytica, she worked on energy and technology policy issues at the Council on Foreign Relations. She holds an MA in International Affairs from George Washington University and a BA in Political Science from Miami University. She is based in Oxford Analytica’s Washington, DC office.
