William joined Oxford Analytica in December 2011 as Shift Editor/Editorial Researcher before becoming part-time and then full-time analyst for South-east Asia in 2013-14 and Acting North America Analyst in 2017. He is responsible for Daily Brief coverage of those regions, analysing political, economic and diplomatic affairs and risks, and works with the Advisory team as needed.

Additionally, William manages Oxford Analytica’s Global Risk Monitor, tracking leading global political risks.

Prior to joining the firm full time, William conducted his undergraduate work in history at the University of Southampton, with a concentration on India and Pakistan. He then undertook his Master of Studies and Doctor of Philosophy degrees at the University of Oxford, specialising in South and South-east Asian history and politics, with some focus on international institutions and state/nation building. William’s doctorate analysed the role of the colonial British Indian Army in the post-war governance of colonial Malaya and Singapore. During this time he was Frere Exhibitioner for Indian Studies and contributed to publications and conferences and undertook some teaching.
