Daily Brief Issues launched

Oxford Analytica Daily Brief launches Issues feature, tracking critical geopolitical and macroeconomic developments across 293 issues in 105 countries

Oxford, England, October 29, 2019. Oxford Analytica, the independent geopolitical analysis and advisory firm, today announces the launch within its Oxford Analytica Daily Brief® service of Issues, a compilation of the most important areas to watch in the politics, economy, society or international relations of a wide range of countries.

Launching with 293 issues in 105 countries, the Issues allow clients to quickly engage with Oxford Analytica's geopolitical country analysis and are updated with new analysis as it is published. Subscribers may also elect to follow individual issues to receive email updates as the analysis is added.

“The Issues were developed in response to client feedback.” said Moray McConnachie, Oxford Analytica’s Director of Operations. “Since the launch of the Daily Brief in 1984, we have been setting out for clients every business day the most important developments in geopolitics. Now we are making it as easy as possible for clients to quickly orient themselves on a given country, and stay on top of the issues that matter most to them.”

The Issues featured by Oxford Analytica at launch were:

  • United States: tariffs - the long-term impact on bilateral relations of the "trade wars"
  • China: Belt and Road - the expansion of China's global influence and the backlash
  • China: Elite politics - the dismantling of institutions and its effect on long-term stability
  • United Kingdom: Brexit uncertainty
  • Russia: Western frictions - the impact of disruptive actions on Moscow’s international partnerships
  • India: Modi's electoral appeal - the careful course Modi will pursue during his term
  • South Africa: political divisions which could frustrate President Cyril Ramaphosa's reform efforts
  • Turkey: elected dictatorship - the effect of political polarisation on Turkey's institutions

The Issues complement Oxford Analytica's forthcoming Prospects series, the firm's flagship guide to the year ahead for key geographies, sectors and themes, which has run every year for over two decades and is published within the Daily Brief in November and December.

Issues are available immediately to subscribers at oxan.to/issues. Non-subscribers can find out more about how to access the Daily Brief at oxan.to/dbabout.
