ASP.NET_SessionId

Purpose: Used to smooth your use of the site, so that for example we do not ask you to repeat choices you have already made in a visit. For subscribers to our services, we also use this cookie to ensure we report back correct statistics on your usage of our service according to our agreement with the organisation providing your subscription.

Purpose: Once you have seen our cookie/privacy notification, we will store that fact in a cookie so that we do not display it again.

Scope: shared between any site whose URL ends .oxan.com (e.g. www.oxan.com) OR whichever of our sites you are currently using if it does not end .oxan.com

OxanCookieGUID

Purpose: if you choose to have our service remember you between logins, the information stored in this cookie allows us to deliver this option for you.

Requirement: only required for the optional “Remember me” facility. Being phased out.

Expiry: one year from when you first use the “Remember me” facility.

Scope: shared between any site whose URL ends .oxan.com (e.g. www.oxan.com) OR whichever of our sites you are currently using if it does not end .oxan.com

OADBSessionID

Purpose: Used to smooth your access to the site

OxfordAnalyticaAuthentication

Purpose: Record that you are logged in to our services

Requirement: not required for all areas of the site; required for login and access to subscription services

Expiry: By default a session cookie - expires after you close your browser - but if you select remember me when logging in it will if left to itself last for a month, giving you access without explicit login for a month.

Scope: used on dailybrief.oxan.com only

OxanCookieSessionGUID

Purpose: Keep your sessions in sync across all oxan.com websites

Requirement: Not required (not yet implemented)

Expiry: session cookie - expires after you close your browser

Scope: shared between any site whose URL ends .oxan.com (e.g. www.oxan.com) OR whichever of our sites you are currently using if it does not end .oxan.com

ST_status

Purpose: Used when from time-to-time we run an optional survey to record whether you have already answered the survey, have chosen to answer it later, or declined to answer it at all.

Requirement: Not required, but if you block this cookie you may be asked if you want to complete the survey on more than one occasion.

Expires: Expiry varies depending on the lifetime of each survey we run, but is rarely longer than a month.

Scope: the site on which the survey is running, and/or any site ending .oxan.com if we are running the same survey on more than one of our sites.

BIGip*

Purpose: We have multiple servers; this cookie is used to make sure that once you reach one of our servers you are directed to it again

Requirement: Required - if you do not permit this cookie you may see unexpected behaviour using our websites

Expires: session cookie - expires after you close your browser session.

Scope: the site you are looking at

notify-hide*

Purpose: Used to prevent recurring notification messages

Requirement: Not required, but if you block this cookie you may see certain notifications on more than one occasion

Purpose: Tracks your usage of our website for analytics purposes. We use this information to analyse the performance of our website. We also use it to estimate audience size and usage pattern without identifying individuals.

Requirement: Not required .

Expires: 10 years after last used.

Scope: limited to the site you are currently browsing.

ACOOKIE – statsse.webtrends.com

Purpose: Tracks your usage of our website for analytics purposes, in such a way that we can aggregate your usage of our different websites together. We use this information to analyse the performance of our website. We also use it to estimate audience size and usage pattern at an aggregate level.

Requirement: Not required. Currently being phased out

Expires: 2 years after last used.

Scope: all websites using WebTrends OnDemand technology.

__ur* and __bpn_uid

Purpose: User Report is a service which allows us to ask you questions about the site and have you report problems with it. The cookies track your usage of the Daily Brief website for analytics purposes and also facilitate your reporting of bugs or answering questions about the service.

Requirement: Not required.

Expires: Currently one year

Scope: All websites connected to User Report services. Of our sites, currently only the Daily Brief site.

_utm* and _ga*

Purpose: Tracks your usage of our website for analytics purposes, in such a way that we can aggregate your usage of our different websites together. We use this information to analyse the performance of our website. We also use it to estimate audience size and usage pattern at an aggregate level.

Requirement: Not required. Currently being introduced.

Expires: A range of periods, but the longest is currently 2 years after last used.

Scope: All websites using Google Analytics.

Opt-out: Google provide opt-out browser add-ons so that if you wish you can opt out of providing data to Google Analytics.

Video-related and third-party cookies

The provider of our video hosting platform, Thomson Reuters Insider, uses a range of cookies to provide their services and for analytic purposes. When you are viewing pages containing video on our website, Thomson Reuters is providing that service to you and may be using cookies. We occasionally use other third parties to provide video or other services. Please note that third parties may also use cookies, over which we have no control. These cookies are likely to be analytical/performance cookies or targeting cookies.
